There is no better example of wardrobe essentials than a classic trench coat. From First World War to the runways to style icon’s wardrobe, trench coat has gone far beyond its practicality and become a timeless, iconic fashion piece. If my words and many stylish women on street wearing their trench coats can’t convince you that how necessary it is, this book can (it’s also a great coffee table book!)
Among so many street style looks that incorporated trench coat, these three above are my favorite this year. Moreover, they are easy to recreate (all the pieces on them are basics that we may already have in our closet) and are great for holiday activities:
Miranda Kerr (above left) paired her trench coat with distressed jeans, striped T-shirt, leopard loafer and Celine Luggage tote. This look is stylish, comfy and effortless, great for shopping, watching movies or holiday getaway.
Poppy Delevingne (above middle) always did a good job mixing masculine with feminine. Her “part girly, part edgy” style is my favorite (see other looks of her here & here). This time was no exception. Her trench coat and lace-up booties balanced the romantic floral dress perfectly. This look is great for holiday party, date night, fancy dinner or concert. Any kind of floral dress or skirt in your closet can help you recreate her edgy yet glamorous look.
Emma Stone is definitely a rising fashion icon. This outfit of her (above right) is so classic, sleek and polished. It’s a look that flatters many body shapes, great for women at any age and appropriate for any occasions. If you are in a hurry or just don’t know what to wear, this should be the outfit you can throw on and go while looking fabulous. A statement necklace is all you need to transform it for a night out.
A high quality trench coat is truly worth the investment. We know that we can count on it no matter where we go. Since all the other pieces you see in these three looks are all considered part of wardrobe foundations, I picked each for you to create yours. Happy holiday!
