This post is a continue of our “wardrobe essential” series (since holiday season is the best time to stock up pieces that never go out of style.) Today let’s talk about leather jackets and how to style them for different age groups:
Kristen Stewart is a great example of how to rock your leather jacket in your 20s: be bold and experimental. Leather jacket has become part of this young star’s signature look, along with her sneakers, hoodies, T-shirt, smoky eyes and hair flip. She is not afraid of trying bold colors and mixing them with equally eye-catching prints. Compared to the ways she wears her leather jackets, the more important thing we can learn from her is the free spirit attitude.
When you are in your late 20s and 30s, you may want something that are sophisticated, but still have a fresh and sexy vibe, take a hint from Miranda Kerr whom I featured frequently in my blog. She sticks to classic color palettes, adds bright splashes of color with accessories (like red leopard scarf, cobalt tote, floral embellished satchel, and her signature scarlet lip). She shows off her sexiness by pairing the leather jacket with flowy skirt or body-hugging pants.
Kate Moss is the queen of edgy rock style. But these three looks of her are sleek, classic and chic. The middle look is my favorite, adore the unexpected fringes at the back (check the details here). These looks are great for women in their late 30s and over 40s. Straight-leg pants, basic black pumps and classic LBD will add a sophisticated vibe to your leather jacket. If you want to try colored leather, the beautiful blue (like the one on Kate Moss), elegant burgundy, hunt green and classic brown are all good options.
Below I picked several leather jackets that I really like this season, from classic Moto vibe to quilted version to colored ones. Good luck with your hunting!
