Fashion pieces that never go out of style worth the investment, like leather pants, basic pumps, trench coat… No time is better than December to stock them up: since many sizes and colors are still available and the promotions are irresistible. So I call this month my “wardrobe foundation splurge” time. As you can see from above, the first staple I want to share with you are leather pants. Moreover, how we can style them for different body types.
I first started to try leather pants not because of the stylish vibe, but because of how warm they keep my legs, how soft and comfortable they are, and how easy they are to take care of: no need to be washed so often, no need to get dry cleaned. As long as I hang them up, the next morning, they look so flattering and new, waiting to be slipped on.
The more I wear, the more I’m amazed how easy-going they are: with denim jacket, lace top, cotton T-shirt, blazer; with pumps, booties, sneakers and even flip-flops. Now I always keep my eyes open for more high quality leather pants.
Pay attention to the details when hunting for leather pants: those that have back pockets and belt loops are great for boyish figure (the back pocket add a “visual” lift) and petite body (since you can wear them with cropped jacket or tuck your shirt in without worrying the rear area). Leather leggings are great for tall girls (they will look so chic with a black tunic) and curvy figure (wear them with long flowy top or boyfriend blazer to cover up the problem area).
The three stars above represent three different body types: Miranda Kerr has a perfectly proportioned body that we all want. The loose cardigan balanced her sexy, long lean legs while adding glamour to her look. You can also tuck a silk blouse into your leather pants to emphasize your beautiful body (like this look of the star). For those of you who have boyish figures, use some voluminous pieces to create an hourglass shape: wear a peplum top or, at this time of the year, throw on a fur vest, like Poppy Delevigne did (above middle). Kim Kardashian is the master of dressing curves. Her black ensemble created a long lean line (notice that she chose booties instead of pumps to elongate her legs?) Her boyfriend blazer covered the problem area whiling adding structure to the look (see another similar outfit of her here)
Below are great picks for those of you in the market for great leather pants like me. Good luck scoring yours!
