Oh, white! There are so much to say about it that I don’t even know where to start. No doubt that it’s a perfect color for spring and summer. But since someone raised this question last fall: “why can’t we wear white after labor day?” Then white finally be worn the year round-which greatly satisfied “white” fans like me.
I have a tiny frame and an “Asian face” which make me look much better and “visible” in white than in black, especially in white tops, they can instantly correct lighten my skin tone. Wearing them as I was holding reflector for myself. So, the first-class members in my wardrobe are white blazers and button downs.
Let’s start from white blazers. They can add polish to any outfit, and give you the fresh, crisp, effortlessly chic look you need in spring and summer. When it comes to pairing them, there are millions of ways. Today I want to focus on my favorite way-pairing white blazers with black pieces.
I know, this combo is so classic. By trying different materials, details or cuts, and combined with different accessories, this classic combination can be luxury or easy-breezy, edgy or sweet, polish or laid back…You name it. Let take a look at these stylish ladies:
To achieve Angelina Jolie’s luxurious look, we can choose white blazers that are made with delicate materials such as satin or velvet; contains unique designs, like the opulent chain fastenings on this Gucci blazer; last but not least, has the perfect cut that hugs you body very well. The right fit is super important, it will make any clothes look like customized for you. Jolie keeps her accessories simple but understated.
This Gucci blazer below is exactly the one on Angelina Jolie. My favorite part is the gold fastenings of course. The gold really adds right amount of glamour against the crisp, smooth white.
Kate Moss’s black and white looks are my all-time favorites. Perfect blazer paired with skinny bottom is her signature style. The silhouette is simple and sleek, while the tuxedo style of the jacket, low neckline of her top and the cropped pants make the look feminine and sexy, plus the glamour on her wrist, she looks effortlessly chic.
To achieve Kate Moss’s look, I think the most important thing we need to learn is her great attitude. As for the pieces, this Balmain blazer (similar here, 40% off here) really reminds me of her chic style. Pair it with leather pants and high booties, choose small accessories to add glamour, like the belt and bangles on the model, and you are ready to go.
This outfit from Kirsten Dunst really caught my eyes. I love the way she accessorized this outfit. By adding a pair of floral sandals and a sunny yellow clutch, she successfully balanced the sexy and mature vibe of the body-hugging mini and boyfriend blazer.
This look from Calvin Klein Collection (also here & here) gives me the similar feeling as Kirsten Dunst’s look: mature stylish with some girly elements. Learn from her, add a girly shoes and bright clutch, this outfit can bring you from office to dinner.
Olivia Palermo is a style icon I truly admire. Her “princess look”, sweet smile and edgy style blend together perfectly. It’s the “upper-East” elegant meets down-town chic.
This one from Theyskens’ Theory (also here) reminds me of her look- sweet yet edgy.
Anne Hathaway is a typical new yorker. This look is another good example of how you can look nice and classy as a 9-to-5 office worker.
Choose a well-fitted one-button white blazer like this one from BCBG, pair it with wide-leg pants which is office friendly and also can hide your sky-high heels underneath. Finish the look with a designer tee to balance the menswear look.
For the length of our wide leg trousers, neither Anne Hathaway’s(above) nor the model’s (below) is a good example. Perfect length should between the lengths of theirs: long enough to cover the most of our shoes, but not too long to touch the ground.
Among the affordable versions, I like these two, both of them have great reviews. First one from Topshop seems nude color, but it’s actually white. Love the clean line.
Second one from Forever 21 is around $30, great style too. But petite girls may need to pay extra attention to the boyfriend cut.
Hope you enjoy and our White Blazer (Part 2) will come soon!
