Short coats and jackets are great transitional pieces, they keep us warm without the heaviness of a long coat. I love how today’s featured ladies played with proportions by teaming skinny bottoms with their cocoon coat and fluffy fur jacket, respectively. Bringing in light, bright colors is also a great way to get in the mood for spring, like the convertible metal bar red bag and white sweater on Kate Hudson.

Close followers know my love of stripes: There are countless outfit inspirations about stripes in my posts, and I personally collect striped pieces in various colors, scales, materials, cuts and shapes.
Although been popularized by Coco Chanel, stripes have a resort-related, laid-back vibe naturally. To polish them up, choose black/white or navy/white version in structured blazer or lady like dress silhouette, like the sophisticated A-line and sleek sheath versions on today’s featured stars above.
When it comes to styling: bright colors are their best friends. A splash of saturated primary color like sunny yellow, classic red or cobalt blue really makes the stripes pop.
Another fun way to play with it is mixing prints: teaming stripes with polka dots, animal prints or floral patterns. The key is keeping them in a similar scale or stick to the same color palette.

With summer’s end in sight, any opportunities to wear flowy dresses or mini skirts are precious. To dress for the chilly days while still looking cheerful and summery, choose printed long sleeve blouses or dresses in lightweight fabric or with eye-catching prints. The covered arms balance bare legs while still capturing a late summer breeze.
For accessories, closed toe shoes like ballet flats, suede loafers or the newly minted spectator shoes are chic yet functional options. Tote or satchel in grey, brown or burgundy is also a great way to add right amount of weight and coziness in late summer/early fall.
