As one of 80’s trends, double-wrap belt came back in 2008 and are still having its moments till now. If you have noticed Victoria Beckham’s outfits in the past few months, in addition to her Fall 2012 collection which was presented during this year’s NYF, you would admit this trend:
The blue dress is Victoria’s favorite one from her collection. Her own design really cinched her svelte figure. But it was the black double-wrap belt that really caught my eyes. It added more texture and edge to the sleek, body-hugging dress, let alone the versatile color. It had been spotted on Victoria many times and also in her collection. She used it with dresses, cardigans, even coat. From casual to work look, this belt got the job done.
To me, a stylish yet functional wrap belt like this is a wardrobe staple and as important as our LBDs. It draws the attention to our slimmest part, give us the right portion we pursue. The layered look adds texture and dimension to any outfit, make it more interesting and polishing.
Besides the universal black, there are many other color options: a metallic one makes the simple red or purple dress futuristic and sophisticated; a nude one makes a office-look stylish yet appropriate; a white one makes any solid colored dress fresh and spring-ready:
For more affordable versions, I personally scored one from Gap which exudes a similar edgy vibe to Victoria’s. I couldn’t find it online, but this beaded one is quite interesting

Victoria once said:”I’ve always had to make the best of what I’ve got.” So learn from her spirit, show off your beauty in the “the sucky-sucky dress”, and spice it up with your double-wrap belt!
