As a mom-to-be, I definitely appreciate my mom more than before. As I said in my “mother’s day gift idea” entry, moms love us much more than we can imagine! The unconditional love started when we first appeared in her belly. She already loved us deeply long before she knew our gender and how we would look like. So treasure her more, hug her more!

Maximize the Value of Your Maxi Dress

Maxi dress is undoubtedly a wardrobe staple. Among so many choices, I especially adore the simplicity and versatility of a sleek black maxi dress. Last summer I shared three ways to style them. This summer, as a trend of this season, the color black takes the center stage. No better time to score your own black maxi dress and make the best use of it all the way through fall!

As you can see from the four looks of Miranda Kerr (above), with the simple silhouette and never-go-out-of style color, a black maxi dress can take us anywhere: Team it with ankle booties, studded tote and oversized sunglasses, you get an effortlessly chic “models off-duty” inspired look; Wear it with glamorous heels and fine jewelry, you are party-ready; Top it off with a denim jacket, printed crossbody bag and flip-flops, you are laid-back yet stylish; Pair it with a light weight scarf, leather jacket and easy walk shoes, you get a comfy yet polished travel outfit, the list goes on…

The best part of a black maxi dress is that you can transform it simply by changing accessories. Want an urban bohemian look? Wear a printed scarf as a belt, finish it off with gladiator sandals. Need a rock ‘n roll touch? Add a studded tote and killer booties…

Of course you always have the option of wearing it as a skirt by adding a graphic tee, a chambray shirt or a military vest, as you can see from the looks below.

Retro Glamour or Fashion Forward

Coral pink is such a romantic color for spring/summer. When paired with crisp white, the impact is so feminine and fresh. But today’s featured ladies (above) gave this swinging combination two totally different representations:

Miranda Kerr’s wide leg jeans brought her look a 60’s flair. Although by then, stars like Peggy Lipton and Audrey Hepburn liked to flash a little ankle, today we should take a hint from Miranda Kerr, let the hems graze the floor for the leg elongating effect. Heels/wedges are definitely needed for bottoms like this. This look is great for women of any age.

Although Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s crop top is also a retro take, but by topping is off with a sleek structured blazer (like this one), leather pants and metallic cap-toe pumps, she gave the look a more modern and fashion-forward vibe. Changing the crop top to a silk blouse, I can see women in their 40s rock this look beautifully.

Of course, this pink and white combination can be played around more: With biker jacket and safety-pin jewelry, it can be rock chic; With an ikat bag and fringe booties, it can be urban bohemian… the list can go on. Which style will you choose for your pink and white combo?
