I can’t think of a reason not to wear maxi dresses. Some petites friends may think maxi dress will swallow their figures. But trust me (I’m also a petite), by adding a belt to cinch the waist and slipping on a pair of sky-high platform sandals or heeled booties, a maxi dress with lightweight material(which lets the dress fall softly over our body), sleek design (which won’t drew attention to our bottom half) and the right length (which almost graze the floor), you will look even more sexy and elegant than you are in your favorite minis.
Yes, being sexy doesn’t mean that we have to show off our bodies. Sometimes, covering it up is a much smarter way. That’s the attraction of maxi dresses. As one of the most ancient silhouettes, It is reminiscent of the simple but solemn dress on ancient Greek or Roman women, both are timelessly glamorous.
But for me, the best part of maxi dress is its versatility. By changing accessories, it will take you anywhere, from beach to party to office; and company you anytime, from spring to fall even to winter (by adding tights underneath).
Our three stylish ladies we featured above showed us how easy-going the maxi dress is. They are all wearing a black maxi dress with simple cut and minimum detail, but they accessorize three totally different looks: by pairing it with lace-up booties and city tote, Anja Rubik looks effortlessly chic; by adding straw hat, clutch and espadrilles, Jessica Hart looks laid-back and sweet; by wearing it with structured blazer and high platform shoes, Rachel Zoe looks polished and sophisticated.
Below are details of their outfits and information for you to recreate all the looks:

If you want to wear a maxi dress alone without adding any blazer, cardigan or scarf, then you should pay extra attention to details: a tank version(below left) is great for weekends; a classic version (below middle) can take you to the office; a v-neck version can insure your glamour in parties.
