Top: Ellison (under $35! similar here and here)
Bottom: Vanessa Bruno (adore the top version with the same pattern, 70% off now)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (great style here and here)
When I first saw Olivia Palermo’s photo shoot for Tatler magazine, I fell in love with the two looks above and below. They reflect Olivia’s signature style: sweet but always have an unexpected edgy twist; colorful but always maintain a high level of chicness and sophistication.
A structured button down is a great piece to pair with one of this season’s hot trends: soft flowy printed pants. Since this pair of of-the-moment Vanessa Bruno pants I picked above right have the colors blue, red and purple, instead of choose one from them, I chose the color yellow which matches perfectly with any of them as the color of my top which really liven up the whole look.
The Christian Louboutin ankle-strap studded pumps are my favorite part: the understated color and simple design tone down the look but the studs add just the right amount of edginess and glamour which take this outfit to the next level. Besides, this pair combines almost all of the hottest shoe trends this season: transparent, ankle strap, cap toe, studs.. it’s a must have!
Top: Bellatrix (great buy here)
Skirt: French Connection (the one on Olivia by Marni here; great style here,70% off )
Belt: Urban Outfitters
Nail Polish: Dior
There’s also so much to say about her second look above. By juxtaposing polka dots, stripes and prints (notice her belt?), she results a head-turning outfit that is fun and bold, but still sweet and chic.
When mixing two prints together, you need to pay extra attention to their sizes and colors which will impact the result. About the size, you can get them either in similar size (like the big polka dots and wide stripes on Olivia), or get one of them in a very small size, thus it can be treated as a solid color, like the French Connection skirt I picked. About the colors, black and white prints are much easier (and safer) to play with, like black and white polka dots, stripes, animal prints, as well as denim which can be treated as neutrals; they go perfectly with many solid colors.
