It’s not the first time I featured Olivia Palermo styling her fur cardigan for day and night (check her previous looks here), today let’s share two more outfits of her, learn how to recycle the same piece for various occasions.

Since fur has the connotation of being formal and stodgy, for a daytime look, we need to downplay it by adding bright colors and youthful elements. Here, Olivia Palermo teamed hers with edgy leather pants and biker boots, and brought in colors via accessories like an artful scarf and cherry red satchel.

For a glamorous evening look, we want to bring out the luxurious side of fur but still keep it up-to-date. Olivia Palermo chose rich jewelry tones like emerald green, crimson red and deep brown for a picturesque fall look and kept it current by mixing this season’s favorite textures and hottest hues. Her bared legs also balanced out the bulkiness of fur.

Faux Fur Style: Day to Night (Part I)

I love pieces that combine interesting yet practical contrasts, like a sweater with crepe ruffle hem or, what featured here, a cardigan with faux fur trim: the fluffy collar adds coziness to the knit without the extra bulk.

Olivia Palermo styled hers with skinny jeans and velvet slipper loafers for a casual yet polished day time look, with a fringe dress and metallic strappy sandals for a glamorous night out look.

Since fur vest, coat or cardigan add volume to our upper body, balance them out with slim fit bottoms, like skinny jeans, pencil skirt or shorts. Extra bonus for injecting a bold punch of color or pattern by way of standout accessories, like the handbag and scarf on Olivia Palermo.

因为皮草本身有一定的廓形，所以穿皮草马甲、外套或开衫时尽量选择贴身的下装，比如铅笔裙，小短裤或紧身牛仔裤等。利用围巾、手包等配饰引入一些抢眼的颜色或图案，给成熟的皮草增加些年轻活泼的元素。

Year-Round Fashion Staple: Striped Blazer

As a piece combined two of our favorites–classic nautical stripes and sleek silhouette–striped blazer is surely a permanent resistant in our closet.

When hunting, look for details or special add-ons that make your striped blazer stand out, like the bold trim or flirty peplum seen on Oliva Palermo’s jackets (check out how she styled the same jacket for summer here)

Since stripes are so classic, you can style them as you do with other neutrals: team them with various of stripes, mix them with floral, leopard, polka dots, or brighten them up with pops of color.

Keep them fresh and current by adding of-the-moment accessories, be it a pair of mirrored sunglasses, menswear-inspired Oxford or a beanie, or infusing a fashionable element, like the sensational orange and pink color combination seen on Palermo.
