Monochrome Chic: Combine Classic with Modern

Olivia Palermo has been wearing a lot of black and white pieces lately, my favorites are these two looks above. With intricate details, dynamic patterns and a pop of brights, she gave the simple black and white a reinterpretation, making this classic combo bold, delicate and fashion-forward.

For her first outfit (above left), black and white, stripes, see-through trends blend together harmoniously thanks to the simple color palette and classic silhouette. As always, details and accessories make a big difference, as showed in her second outfit above: with the delicate laser cut out, well-thought printed clutch, sophisticated Mary Jane pump, and subtle yellow & purple color block, it’s hard to believe that her dress is only a $66 piece from kohl’s!

这一季的时装周期间常看到时尚偶像Olivia Palermo穿黑白色的单品。我最喜欢的是上面的这两个造型，精美繁复的镂空细节，动态变化的条纹图案以及恰到好处的亮色点缀重新演绎了原本是极简代名词的黑与白。

她的第一个look把今年大热的透视、条纹及黑白等几个流行趋势融合地不着痕迹，技巧在于保持整体色调干净，而且每件单品的剪裁和线条也很简洁。第二个look里的这条镂空的皮裙我已经等了好久，是Catherine Malandrino为Kohl‘s设计的系列里我最喜欢的一件。简单的线条，硬朗皮革和蕾丝般精美的雕花所形成的冲突感已经让人很难相信它这么平价，只有$66！再配上优雅的玛丽珍包鞋和抢眼又有复古风情的黄色手包，瞬间就像漫步在巴黎街头的名媛。

Black Dress: Day to Night

A little black dress is always the trusty piece we can throw on and go no matter trends. Today’s featured looks show us how to style it for day & night.

The first look above spotted on the street is fashionable and fun. The long-sleeves balance the bare legs, also make the dress great for transitional season. A Tassel bag and sneaker give the body-con dress more casual and relaxed vibe while the embellishment on the shoe and the gold belt adding an edgy, cool-girl touch.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s off-duty looks are sexy yet sophisticated. Here, the black Versus dress echoes the cut-out trend, but in a tasteful way thanks to the front gold buttons and the high neckline.

For a sexy dress like this, avoid pointy-toe pumps, go for modern strappy sandals. Gold accents on her dress, shoes and clutch add lux glamour and tie the whole outfit together.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley的look是经典的小黑裙穿法：搭配高跟鞋参加晚宴或派对。看似简单的搭配更要在细节上多留心：她所选的Versus的小黑裙呼应了本季大热的几何切割、镂空剪裁，腰际的纽扣和高领的设计让露肤度恰到好处，既典雅又不失性感。整身虽然颜色简单，但变化的细节和交错的线条以及裙子、鞋和手包上的金色点缀增加了高贵度和整体感。

How to Wear Polka Dots

Polka dot is such a timeless & dynamic print. Different scales and colors can give it different vibes: Small ones are more feminine and flirty whereas big ones are more modern and dramatic; Neutral ones are classic and easy-going whereas colored ones are more fun and youthful.

Pairing it with different pieces can bring out different sides of polka dots. As you can see from today’s featured looks above: A flirty frill skirt and cute Mary Jane heels enhanced the romantic and feminine side of Olivia Palermo’s small polka dot print shirt; A wide chunky waist belt, sleek black trousers and edgy leather pumps showed off the modern, powerful side of Taylor Tomasi Hill’s big polka dot shirt.

Two more tips we can learn from these two icons: When mixing prints, vary scales if they share the same color palette, vice versa; If your top and bottom both have volume, use a belt to cinch the waist.

像条纹一样，圆点也是不退流行的经典图案。不同的大小和色彩会赋予圆点不同的风格：小巧的圆点俏皮可爱，大的圆点则更抢眼、摩登；黑白灰等中性色的圆点经典又百搭，多彩尤其是霓虹色的圆点则更年轻充满趣味。

配搭不同的单品也能带出圆点的不同面，就像今天所展示的两个街拍偶像所搭配的一样：柔美的鱼尾裙和可爱的玛丽珍鞋让Olivia Palermo的小圆点衬衫更具女人味；利落的直桶西装裤、尖头包鞋和宽版腰带则更凸显Taylor Tomasi Hill身上的大圆点衬衫的现代与时尚感。

搭配两个相同色系的圆点单品时，混搭大小不一样的更有层次感。另外，如果我们的上衣和下装均不是修身款式，则最好选用高腰款式，并利用腰带强调腰线。
