Full calendar, limited time and space require an efficient wardrobe. We want the pieces in our closet are multi-functional, versatile yet fashionable. That’s why I want to make this “one minute change” as a series: the looks featured here can not only give us quick outfit change ideas, but also inspire us to restyle each item we invest in.
For these three looks of Olivia Palermo featured today, my favorite part is how one trendy piece (here is her colored suede loafer) can update all the basics and make the looks feel current and fresh.
After many trials, I build up a wardrobe that fits my lifestyle the best: I keep 70% pieces as essentials and basics, 20% are bold pieces, the other 10% are of-the-moment trendy items. My blog also reflects this principle–you may notice that a majority of my entries are about where to find and how to rework classic basic pieces, for the rest I dedicated to special occasions and trendy items.
This season, a good pair of loafers is definitely the one trendy piece I should add to my collection. For a bright pair like this one, you can wear with simple black and white, let them take center stage, or mix them with other brights. The easiest strategy for color mixing is staying in the same color family, like Olivia did below. The same colored skinny jeans and shoes also make her legs look slimmer and longer.
