Fashion is moving towards a more comfortable and healthy way now: from sagging pajamas, easy flats to–what we share today–sweaters! As one who live in sweaters in fall/winter, I’m thrilled that this season I can wear them for the sake of fashion while stay warm and comfy.
This season, the key ward for sweater is BOLD. From whimsical designs, cute animal prints, to eye-catching stripes and bright colors, the bolder, the better. Today, I picked three of my favorite looks from the stars in their 20s, late 20s and 40s to share with you how to rock this trend no matter what age you are.
Remember that opposite is attractive. Chunky sweaters go perfect with skinny jeans, pencil skirts or cropped pants while fitted sweater is great paired with maxi skirt or boyfriend jeans.
If you are in your 20s, an oversized sweater in romantic shades (beige, rose-pink or velvet) is worth the investment this season. Wear it with summer staples you don’t want to pack away, like mini skirt or distressed denim shorts. Adds tights when you need extra warmth, like the Korean star Choi Soo Young (above left), and feel free to choose colorful ones too, like burgundy, green or even mustard yellow.
We all are familiar with the sweater and jeans combo. It flatters many body shapes and works for women of all ages. What makes Yoon Soy’s look (above middle) stand out and feel current are the details: the bold whimsical tiger pattern on the sweater, the green and black polka dot shirt layered underneath, the color contrast of red pattern and green dots, the distressed jeans and rolled-up hems, the sock and ankle boots combo…
Sarah Jessica Parker’s look (above right) is a great example for women in their 40s and above. It’s definitely not the first time I featured this star. The 47-year-old is not afraid to try different trends and colors. Her cultivated open mind and fearless attitude always inspire me. The hunt-green jacket really brings out the red and purple in her sweater and jeans. The peeped out sweater sleeves, bare ankle and her matching purple striped umbrella taught us how important details are.
Inspired by them, I made my sweater shopping list, below are some of my favorites. Happy hunting!
