One of my “secret” styling tips is always adding an extra something–which I call “the third piece”–to my outfit, especially for the basic T-shirt (or blazer)-and-jeans looks. A lady-like handbag, a pair of trendy sunglasses, delicate shoes, statement jewelry, or even just a scarlet lip, can instantly take a basic outfit to a whole new level.
But among all of those “third pieces”, my favorite is — scarves! I have a soft spot for scarves and my scarf collection never stops growing. I always keep a scarf in my bag wherever I go. During summer time, a nice lightweight silk-chiffon scarf can keep us stylish while still give us the just amount of coverage we need. It also can be a comfy blanket in the airplane or a stunning cover-up at the beach.
Besides the certain material, I also prefer a scarf with prints. Compared to solid colored scarves, printed ones can add personality to our outfits, can cheer up a plain color palette or create the interesting juxtaposition with other prints.
