Last time, I shared a versatile “uniform” that’s great to wear year-round. Today, as another weekend is coming, I want to share an ageless, flattering, casual “uniform” that’s perfect for warm weather: sleeveless top + maxi skirt.

By pairing with tops in different colors, prints, materials, shapes or styles, a maxi skirt can result variety of outfits that are great for all summer events. When combined with accessories, the list of outfits can be endless.

As you can see from above two looks, Miranda Kerr and Heidi Klum perfectly showed us how to play with this “formula” at different ages: For women in their 30s or under, have fun with your maxi skirts, choose leopard, floral or striped ones, pair them with a slouchy tank top, studded booties and straw fedora for an urban-bohemian chic look.

When you reach 40, look for high-quality pieces in graceful colors: black, olive or aubergine colored maxi skirts with great drape are elegant, and easy to transform for many occasions. Instead of pairing them with graphic Tee or casual tank top, choose silk blouse or cami, which shows the mature sexiness.

Wedge sandals are comfy for walking around while giving you the extra height and femininity. Bright colored, trendy or even whimsical accessories are great ways to show your fashion taste without looking overdone.

Bold colors can really make women shine, especially the classic red. Like the LBD, there is a perfect red dress for everyone. With subtle differences in hues and details, red dresses can reflect many different personalities.

As you can see from today’s featured looks above, by paying attention to details and accessories, these two stars took the right-on-trend fit and flare silhouette to the next level. Miranda Kerr chose one with mesh stripes and beautiful neck design, the peek-a-boo effect along with her scarlet lips adds sexiness to this girly sweet sundress.

Amanda Seyfried’s take on red is more edgy and mystery. The abstract print and front zip on her dress and the shark tooth closure on her heels add a nonconformist touch to her look.

Both outfits are great for weddings, graduations, and countless summer parties. The fit and flare shape flatters many body types.

If you want to make a statement, go with saturated colors no matter the trend. Luckily, they are right on trend this season! Don’t be scared of the hues, all you need is some tips and the confidence to wear them. Once you start, you will be surprised how fun and easy they are to play with!

A bright-colored suit is a great start to experiment with this head-to-toe color trend. The classic and modern silhouette of the suit balance the loudness of its color, besides you can mix and match each separate with all the neutrals in your wardrobe.

After you picked the suit, choose pieces that are either neutral or in the same color family to complete the look, like the jacket on Olivia Palermo (60% off now!) and the blue cutout bustier on Candice Lake above.

For accessories, you can either choose neutral ones but with interesting details, like this gorgeous white cut-out sandals; or play colorblocking by teaming cobalt blue heels with a coral suit; or mix textures and prints by pairing a leopard belt with a jacquard top as Olivia Palermo did.

Last but not least, fabric is the key when wearing bright pieces. Since colored pieces naturally draws attention, you don’t want them to stick to your body, with that said, select fabrics that drape instead of cling, like breezy silk, lightweight wool, high-density cotton or structured jacquard.
