Leopard coat is a timeless fall/winter staple. Today, let’s learn some tips from the five stylish ladies above about how to style yours. The first easy and safe way is teaming it with black. We all know that, right? But to make your leopard-black combo stand out from the crowd, all you need is the right accessories. In the first image, Emmanuelle Alt and Kate Moss’s over-the-knee boots added a cool-girl effect to the look while Nicole Richie’s fedora and aviator sunglasses marked her signature Bohemian chic style.
Since everything goes bold this season, why don’t we go further with our leopard coat? This brings out our second way: wearing it with casual pieces like denim shirt or graffiti tee and finishing the look with bright, bold accent like the red, yellow and hot pink clutches Blair Eadie, Kate Moss and Solange Knowles chose in the second image above. These saturated bright colors echo the playful vibe, make the whole look modern and chic.
Mixing and matching different styles (like the wild leopard, laid-back T-shirt and bright clutches showed above) is kind of tricky. I think the key here is sticking to one bright color, like the scarlet red on blogger Blair Eadie, the sunny yellow on Kate Moss. Solange Knowles is a master of mixing colors. In today’s look, although you can see yellow, pink and blue on her besides the leopard, notice that her yellow skirt and blue sweater are low saturated which don’t compete with the bold leopard and bright pink.
Below are my favorite five leopard coats this season. Happy shopping and don’t forget to share with me your own way to style your leopard coat!
Mango faux fur coat, sleek, timeless, and so affordable!
Collette by Collette faux fur coat (also here). It has a slightly lighter tone than normal leopard which will brighten up your skin. The conservative collar design makes it even office appropriate, let alone the great craftsmanship.
Forever 21 faux fur jacket (great style here). It’s no doubt a great starter choice if you want to try the leopard coat trend but don’t want to spend a lot of money. Photo on the right: courtesy of hauteandrebellious.com.
Isabel Marant rabbit coat. This is definitely my No.1 investment choice for a real fur coat. The length is perfect for tall and petite, the color is true leopard, the silhouette is sleek… Just can’t take my eyes off it!
Blumarine faux fur coat. Do you still remember the striking head-to-toe leopard look from Blumarine fall 2012 RTW collection (check it here)? Yes, this is the coat!
