How Far A Straw Tote Can Go

I was just about to put my straw tote away during my wardrobe purge when I saw this latest look (the middle one above) of Alexa Chung. I knew a straw tote is practical and easy-going. Its ability to add a touch of bohemian glamour to any outfit also makes it never go out of style.

But I never thought I can carry it to a fancy dinner or a formal event while teaming it with something delicate as silk and lace, or glittering as metallic pieces.

These three looks from Alexa Chung are all unexpected (at least for me) ways to carry a straw tote. And needless to say, some of the pieces on her look like my grandma’s. But of course Alexa Chung paired them in a more modern and polished way.

On the left photo above, the straw tote added fun and easy vibe to her rigid clothing. In the middle, the tote along with flats toned down the luxurious and ultra-feminine lace dress; On the right look above, it brighten up the dark ensemble while echoing the easy-breezy look.

After this post, I definitely plan on taking my straw tote to a special dinner next weekend. One of my close friend will come from other side of the ocean to visit me. Nothing is better than a straw tote that can tune down my silk blouse and brocade jeans while adding a cozy touch to our get-together.
