Blue and white striped pieces have been an undoubtable wardrobe staple since Coco Chanel first introduced it to the fashion world during her nautical collection in 1917. But the print is becoming too familiar which makes me always looking for an alternative: it should be something new but as classic as the French stripe.
I don’t know specifically about what I had been keeping looking for until I saw this palette on Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2012 runway. Yes! Here it is! This elegant, classic but modern print is named Estate blue multi in the brand’s spring 2012 color palette.
By just adding thin fuchsia and scarlet stripes in between, the whole print instantly lightens up. It becomes youthful and modern, girly yet flirty, and still has the classic verve of blue and white stripes.
This is the Marc by Marc Jacobs Flavin Striped Peplum Blouse (also here, here and here) that I can’t stop mentioning in my previous posts:
Several bloggers already got their hands on several months ago. Below are from 9to5chic and missrenaissance:
This attractive print can also be seen on other pieces, like the dress (also here), swimsuit (here and here) and handbag you saw on the runway looks above. Among all of those, I adore the skirt version below (also can be found here and here).
Full skirt is a must-have for spring and summer. This print adds edgy chicness, laid-back ease and youthful sporty element to the versatile full skirt.
Inspired by this stunning, eye-catching print from Marc by Marc Jacobs, I pulled together four looks for four different occasions.
First look is for a lovely morning in the beach. Let the cute Tory Burch top and vibrant J.Crew shorts do the talk by keeping other accessories neutral but still with interesting details (like the circle shape of the sunnies and the neon handle of the straw tote.

Second look is for the lunch (or branch) with girl friends and shopping afterwards. The colors on this Steve Madden flats is perfect for walking around. With a price of $17, they are a steal.

The third look is for a afternoon pool party. It’s the time to go bold with your swimsuit. Choose a crisp white shirt as cover-up which can be easily dressed up for dinner.

Last but certainly not the least–a comfy look for outdoor activities at night. Ankle boots and denim jacket complement the free spirit of the navy and red striped dress while keeping us warm when it gets chilly outside.
