Flare or A-line skirt is a summer must-have. It’s easy breezy, girly and flirty, most of all, it flatters many body types. Today, I picked two totally different looks incorporated this classic shape, hope they can inspire you to style yours.

Usually in warm weather, we tend to choose light colors to pair with white skirt, or bright solid colors to complement a printed one. But this season, try to use a black top, it will highlight the skirt, give it a modern sophisticated vibe.

A white flare skirt is romantic and playful, Liu Wen toughened it up with a wide leather waist belt and lace up peep toe booties. A see-through mesh top adds sexiness. Her sleek hair and natural makeup really enhance the cool-girl effect. For a night out, you can opt for a scarlet lip or a smoky eye (but never both).

I used to pack too many swimsuits for a beach vacation, most of them ended up being unworn of course. What we really need is just the perfect one that flatters and can serve more than one purpose. With that said, nothing beats the never-go-out-of-style black ones. They are sexy, flattering and incredible versatile: wear them under a see-through top for a subtle sexy night-out look or with an oversized backless shirt and denim cut-offs for daytime strolling.

Close followers know that in my blog, I mainly focus on wearable outfit ideas from style savants, especially when their looks incorporate recycled pieces or wardrobe essentials, like the chambray shirt on Miranda Kerr featured above.

There are countless ways to style a denim shirt/jacket. Among them, the denim on denim look is the trickiest: If you pick the wrong shade (too dark or over blenched), the wrong accessories (say a crystal belt), the ensemble will look unfashionable and dated. Here, Miranda Kerr showed us how to play this resurgent trend in a modern way:

Pick two pieces in different hues, extra bonus for those with different “characters”: A simple, minimal embellished top paired with a deeply distressed skinny or right-on-trend patchwork denim shorts for example.

Use accessories to keep it current: compared to menswear loafers or studded boots, metallic ballet flats and suede/satin slippers are equally chic while adding a luxe and feminine touch.
