I went to New York last weekend, and spent three days there. Just want to share with you my outfits during this weekend getaway.
The Museum of Modern Art, Fifth avenue, Central Park and Time Square are my must go-to places every time I travel to the Big Apple. Since I walk a lot, comfortable clothing and shoes are definitely needed. And because of the unpredictable weather during this time of the year and unavoidable scratches in the city, I usually choose not-so delicate pieces like faux leather jacket and patent leather bag.
As you can see from above, my basic pieces are a black faux leather jacket (it goes with all the blouse and tops I brought, stylish for a night out, also warm enough when the temperature drops which happens), dark washed denim jeans (comfy enough for day, can easily be dressed up for night), ankle booties (this pair is the most comfortable shoes in my wardrobe, I can walk in the whole day).
Since I spent three days there, I also brought several tops to change, including a lightweight striped blouse, a silk grey T-shirt, and a plain white tee. You may have noticed that all of them are basic pieces. Yes, they are my wardrobe essentials and I try to buy the best quality that I can afford. I rely on trendy accessories to update these basics every season.
For accessories, I brought two bags (one leopard satchel when I need to carry more stuff and it has to be animal print to spice up my monochrome look, another one is patent mustard cross body bag to keep my hands free when shopping and can also be used as a clutch at night), two scarves and two pair of sunglasses (to create more looks), wooden bangle for day time, dressy necklaces and sleek black pumps for night.
It was a fruitful and fulfilling weekend. I enjoyed the paintings and sculptures in MoMA (also highly recommend the cafe inside MoMA, from soup to dessert, the delicious Italian cuisine kept me walking around the museum till night), the relaxing time at Central Park (book a cross-park tour so you know more about things not only above the ground but also under), the fruitful shopping trip at 5th avenue and kaleidoscope Broadway show at Time Square.
