Actress, Chanel ambassador Zhou Xun
Close followers may remember actress Zhou Xun I featured earlier (here). She is the No.1 fashion icon in China now, and was described as “a synthesis of young Coco Chanel and Ballet Troupe Zizi Jeanmaire” by Karl Lagerfield.
As a Chanel ambassador, she is frequently spotted in the label’s signature tweed jacket and quilted bags. From the photos above, you can barely tell that she is just over 5 feet tall, and behold, she is 38 years old. That brings out the topic I want to share today: how to style the classic tweed jacket, and look taller and younger in it.
To look taller, the petite star always chooses cropped length jackets, and pairs them with body-hugging bottoms: mini skirt, skinny jeans or high waist pants. To finish the look, statement heels and–what you always see on her–different styles of hats! They can add an extra few inches to your height, can protect you from the sun (or the camera), can keep you warm at cold season, and moreover, they are effortless and stylish options for bad hair days!
Since tweed jacket tends to give us a mature look, she brings in lots of youthful elements: the hot pink bag, casual T-shirt, mini skirt, ankle booties, statement jewelry… And how talented she is for the second look above? She worn pantyhose under high waist pants–the extra length elongates her legs while showcasing her fabulous eye-catching red heels.
Tweed jacket is such a classic and timeless piece that worthy splurging on. Below are my favorite choices, hope you like them, and the styling tips I shared today! Happy weekend!
Alice + Olivia (or this version, similar under $90 here). Reminiscent of the Chanel version on the star (above left), but with a fraction of the cost!
Rory Beca. The fresh color and perfect thickness make it seasonless!
Rebecca Taylor. Love the contrast of rough tweed and smooth leather!

MICHAEL Michael Kors. Goes with everything, perfect for any age!
