Zhou Xun is my favorite Chinese actress. Her movies Painted Skin and Perhaps Love are my all-time favorites. After fell in love with her movies, I started to notice her personal style.
She actually has become more and more stylish and looked so effortlessly pulled together when she started to date Li Daqi, a well-known stylist from Taiwan. Although they broke up three years ago, Zhou Xun’s style taste kept developing.
Over the years, she has made appearances at numerous Chanel events. And last year, she was formally announced as a new ambassador for Chanel. Karl Lagerfield complimented her style, saying she is “a mix of a young Coco Chanel and Zizi Jeanmaire.” Now Zhou Xun has become a style-icon in China.
From the young girl who tried too hard to stand out on the Red Carpet to today’s elegant lady who has great taste, always looks effortlessly chic, Zhou Xun is really a good example we can always learn from.
Today’s look makes me hard to believe she is only around 5.2″ tall. Being a petite myself, I always need to be very careful of proportions.
One of the most flattering tricks for using proportion to our advantage is to choose looks that are either”short over long” or “long over short”. Cropped jackets are great pieces to create the”short over long” look- they can always lengthen our legs. I actually just shared a “long over short” look in my previous post.
Below are some pieces for us to recreate her edgy yet stylish, glamour and sophisticated look:
Metallic jacket from Milly:
Or these two cropped jackets which are perfect for all occasions, from Boss Black andVanessa Bruno Athé:
Metallic top from BCBG and Knit top by Velvet by Graham & Spencer:
White tanks from Forever 21 and Target (both have great reviews):
Leather skinny pants from HELMUT LANG and J BRAND. Real leather pants are kinda pricey and not eco-friendly. For affordable versions, we can always find faux leather pants at Forever 21 or H&M.
Metallic peep toe shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti and Zara (great style here):
Last but not least, her shining Star necklace. For a look like hers, we need to keep the accessories to a minimum. Her star necklace really adds just right amount of glamour without competing. Great style here and here:
What do you think today’s featured look? Grey ensemble is actually my personal favorite. It always looks sophisticated urban chic. When we need to attend an event, change some grey pieces into silver ones, which are still stay in the gray family, but instantly take the look to a whole new level. Do you agree?
