As the temperature gets higher, our calendar is gradually filled with different kinds of events. Whether it’s a music festival or a wedding ceremony, when it comes to jewelry, dropped earring is a great finishing touch for your outfit without competing with your beautiful garment.

Today, I picked seven of my favorite looks that incorporated dropped earring. These stylish ladies (showed above), ranging from 24 to 46 years old, with different hairstyles, face shapes, dress choices, and most importantly, personal styles, sure can teach us a thing or two about how to choose and wear drop earrings.

An off-shoulder dress calls for earrings instead of necklace. I love this understated pair that Natalya Rovner chose: the size suits her small oval shaped face without competing with her mask; the hint of gold around the drop lends just right amount of lux glamour to her LBD.

Amanda Seyfried is one of my favorite actresses. She has a unique innocent sexiness. Many of her looks reflect this attractive dichotomy. The look below is no exception: while her braid and lace on the dress are sweet and feminine, the black square drop earrings, winged eyeliner and leather material on her dress add edginess to the whole look.

20s and early 30s are great stages to be experimental. Here a linear crystal earrings along with Nina Dobrev’s dynamic pony tail showed her youthful side. Compared to a normal colorful floral version, a black and white printed dress add touch of edgy flair while nailed the hot color trend.

Orange/gold is a great combo: gold really brings out the warmth and optimism of the color orange. We don’t need a necklace to draw attention away from the beautiful pleats and drapes on this silk top. A pair of elaborate gold earrings (like this one) echos the refined glamour. The teardrop shape is universal flattering.

The last two looks below from Lily Collins and Miranda Kerr are for the most glamorous moments. when our dresses are delicate lace or sumptuous embroidered chiffon, choose earrings that brings volume (to matches the atmosphere), but in the same color family with our dress, so the two won’t compete.

Black and white are huge color trend this season. Today I picked four of my favorite looks incorporated this combination to show you the versatility of this classic color palette. As you can see from above, these three stylish ladies, in their 20s, 30s and 40s, showed us four completely different styles of black and white: from Gwyneth Paltrow’s understated classic to Alessandra Ambrosio’s rock chic edge to Rihanna’s carefree spirit.

First two looks are from 40-year-old Gwyneth Paltrow. From the knee-length dress to oversized boyfriend blazer and shorts combo, she showed us how to be trendy yet age-appropriate.

Another thing we can learn from this queen of understated elegance is the “less is more” beauty. She always keeps her jewelry to a minimum. But it is that just right amount of luxe glamour makes her stand out.

Like black and white, another “old trend” that gets updated this year is jumpsuit. The effect is even more powerful when these two meet, like this IRO version on Alessandra Ambrosio (below). I love how this Victoria’s Secret Angle brought out the edgy side of black and white by adding punk accessories. Besides a studded clutch, another piece you can’t miss now is a pair of safety pin earrings!

We have to admit that dressing in the morning requires more than “3C”: being comfy, chic and confident. The outfit we pick needs to be “multitasking” too. There are so many things to do everyday and we want the outfit we put on in the morning can help us accomplish all of them with minimal change: from sending kids to school to client meeting to dinner and happy hours.

That’s why I focus on featuring and sharing versatile pieces and quick outfit transforming tips in my blog (like previous posts here, here, here and more). Today’s looks from Olivia Palermo are also a great example: by changing one or two pieces, you get different but equally stylish outfits.

There are more we can learn from these two looks: the way Olivia Palermo mixed and matched winter and spring pieces for in-between season (keep the turtleneck sweater and wool coat we worn in winter, pair them with fresh printed skirt and bright clutch), and the way she nailed the black and white trend (keep the color palette simple and classic, then add one or two eye-catching hue with accessories to brighten up the monochrome look).
